Signing with Babies

September 3rd, 2010

Signing with babies has been a subject that Dr. Marilyn Daniels, Georgia, and I have been dealing with for over 30 years. What do to? How do I do it? Do I need a signing background? Will it work? Why should I do it? Why sign with hearing babies? These are just a few of the questions that have been repeated to us hundreds, if not thousands of times and they lead me to soem basic concepts about signing with babies that we oultined in our first book together called Sign to Speak: Babies Can Talk.

Signing With Babies – Baby Signs

July 1st, 2010

Signing with babies has become more and more popular and American Sign Language, commonly known as ASL, provides words that babies can use long before they can speak.   This is important because signing babies can communicate with their parents and others who know the signs from as early as 8 months old. Our own children began between 9 and 13 months of age.  Baby sign language provides babies with a powerful way to tell people around them what they are thinking.

Our DVD We Sign Babies and Toddlers provided a video demonstration and parent testimonials to help non-signing parents not only learn to use ASL with their baby but do learn how to do it.  Our focus in this DVD was to provide signing for young children from birth to 3 years of age.  During this time there is a great deal of developement and so we decided to partner with Dr. Marilyn Daniels, internationally know lecturer and author to create a book that provides parents with detailed information on signing specifically with a baby.

Signing Part of Your Parenting Skills
Generations of parents have all asked themselves many of the same questions.
